Obituary of Linda Loraine Phillips

Peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by her family, Linda Loraine Phillips (nee Beckwith) entered in to rest. Linda is survived by her loving husband Fred, her children Nathan (Jeannie), Michelle, and Jen (Dan) and by her grandchildren Dylan (Liz), Quinn, Carter (Kate), Sam (Courtney), Spencer (Alyssa) Caleb (Mel), Braeden and Cailyn (Nathan) as well as her great grandchildren Lucy, Anna, Henry, Owen and Zoey. Linda’s passing came just days before the birth of her newest great-granddaughter Ella, who she was thrilled about welcoming. Linda was predeceased by her parents Lucy Jean and Charlie Beckwith as well as her siblings: Doug (Lillian), Grace (Lionel), Glen (Joan), Janet (Jack), Ken (Shirley), Eddie (Fay) and June. She is survived by her sister Arlene (Ken) as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. She will be especially missed by her beloved sister Judi (George), her lifelong best friends Marg and Bob Pepper, and her niece Jean (Michel) all of whom spent countless hours by her side through her final days and held a very special place in her heart.

Linda has been described as a strong woman who could handle herself masterfully. A protector with a soft loving side. She was funny and stern, with a twist of sarcasm that could keep you on your toes. She had an appreciation for the smallest of things and the grandest of adventures. A social butterfly who got involved, and a caring friend who offered her help wherever and whenever she could.

For many years she welcomed friends into her home and her family through her home-based hairdressing business. She volunteered for many organizations, most memorably with her dear late friends, Sylvia Davis and Carol Dingwall at the Lanark County Food Bank. Nearing her retirement years, Linda became a “red-hatter” and could be seen sporting a feather boa-laden red hat, any time she was out and about. She truly cherished the friendships she found within the red hat society.

Linda had a flair for adventure, spending most of her later years travelling the world and wintering in Florida with her favorite lifelong companion, her Freddie. Together they made wonderful memories with their friends from Glen Haven Park.

Linda left her mark on every life she touched. She was a pillar of strength and determination. She always did what she wanted… and what she wanted was to make sure that everyone she cared about, felt loved, protected, confident and inspired.

Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate Linda’s wonderful life on Monday June 1 at the Smiths Falls Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, and if you get the choice to sit it out or dance…I hope you dance!
