With hearts overflowing with sorrow the family of Irene Lillian Richardson wish to announce her passing on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Irene was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Richardson, her parents Thelma and Harold Splane, brother David Splane, sister Louise Burke, brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Burke and sister-in-law Yvonne Splane. She leaves behind to mourn her brother Orrin Splane, sister-in-law Mary Splane, daughters Jeanette (George Secord), Heather (Garry MacDonald) Cynthia (Harold Lowe) and Brenda (the late Gregory Maloney). Irene was the proud grandmother of Jaymie, Erika (Randy), Shaun (Stephanie), Rachel, Donna (René), Bradley (Daria), Angela (Daniel), Brittney, Jessica (Joe), Cody (Baili) and Joshua (Laura). She had 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply. Irene was a long-time employee of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and still stayed in touch with her favourite ladies. She was active in the local Civitan Club where she made many of her cherished friends. In later years, Irene became a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan who hated to miss a game. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 10 a.m. until service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with a reception and sharing of memories to follow in the Blair & Son Reception Centre. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Perth. In memory of Irene, donations to the Medical Equipment Bank at the Smiths Falls Civitan Club would be appreciated.
