Obituary of George Elwood Peters

At 93, George Elwood Peters died suddenly on December 24, 2025 at the St. Lawrence Lodge in
Brockville. Pre-deceased by his parents: Annie McFaden and Steve Peters. Pre-deceased by his siblings: Steve,
Frank, Wesley, William, Bertha (St. Pierre), Grace (Hanna, Herter), Lillian (Herron), and Robert. Missed
by his youngest surviving sister Vivian Lazenby.
Pre-deceased by first wife Violet Elizabeth (Cassell, Easton). Leaving behind second wife Margaret
(Barkley).
His children: Charles Geordie Peters (pre-deceased), Linda Iris (Peters, Vandusen, Hicks), Michael
Rodney Peters, Virginia Christine (Peters, Safioles), Elizabeth Suzanne Peters, Daniel Fitzgerald Peters.
Leaving behind his grandchildren: Stephanie, Lisa, Andre, Adam, Austen, Alix-Sandra, Calvin, Zach,
Brad, Justin, and Joseph. Also leaving behind his many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Many will remember George fondly as an Auctioneer, something he loved for most of his life. While
George kept a crowd engaged with his rhythmic, fast chant, he did not live in the “fast lane”. He lived
simply, loved family, the outdoors, nature, his horses, and pets. He was strong-willed with a deep
faith and commitment to God. His philosophy of life was guided by quietly doing random acts of
kindness for others. Instead of flowers or donations, please honour George by “paying it forward”
with a random act of kindness.
Family and Friends may pay respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth during a Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M., with a sharing of memories  at 2:30. Officiant Suzanne Peters
