Obituary of Michael Jones

Michael Douglas Jones, born February 3, 1953, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 23, 2026, at the age of 73.

Better known around the town of Perth as “Smokey,” Mike was born in Goose Bay but called Perth home for nearly 40 years. He was a familiar and recognizable member of the community through his many years driving for K and K Cab.

Mike loved nature and could often be found walking the streets of Perth or enjoying a quiet afternoon reading in Stewart Park. He loved his family, cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, and playing darts with friends.

He is survived by his sister Suzanne, daughter Rozalynd, son Nigel (Katie), and his cherished grandsons Joshua and Adam. Mike will also be greatly missed by close friends including Kathy Farrar, his dart league friends, and his neighbours.

At the request of the family, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 244, 26 Beckwith St E, Perth, ON K7H 1B5 on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
