Obituary of George Everett Coates

It is with sadness that the family of George Everett Coates announce his passing in Perth, Ontario, on May 29, 2026, at the age of 91.

George was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, on May 5, 1935. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Doris, his sons, Hal (Anne) and Geordie (Lynn), his stepchildren, Christine, Shari (Bruce), Kerry (Enid) and Gordon (Liudmila) and his many grandchildren. He also leaves behind his extended family members and dear friends to mourn his loss.

A man of strong faith, George was a longtime member of the Baptist Church. He found great joy in music. Over the years, he shared his love of singing through his involvement with various church and community choirs, where his voice and presence were appreciated by many.  George enjoyed a lifelong passion for sports and fitness, participating in basketball, golf, curling, weightlifting, and bodybuilding. Whether on the court, on the course, or in the gym, he embraced every challenge with dedication and perseverance. Above all, George valued his family, his faith, and the relationships he built throughout his life.

In keeping with George's wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by George's family.
