Obituary of Carron Elizabeth Hodge

Carron Elizabeth Hodge (née Code)

It is with deep sadness that the family of Carron Elizabeth Hodge (née Code) announce her peaceful passing at the Ottawa Heart Institute on July 1, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on October 5, 1944, Carron lived a life centered on love, family, kindness, and friendship. She was the devoted wife of Gilbert Hodge for 63 wonderful years. She was a loving mother to David (Shauna) and Steven (Raynee), and a proud grandmother to Katrina (Cole), Skylar (Kailey), Lara (Ched), Luke, and Grayson. Carron found joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Daynen, Macen, Rory, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another great-grandchild who will soon join the family. She will also be lovingly remembered by her dear sister-in-law, Sue Carroll, with whom she shared a special bond, her brothers-in-law Ron Hodge, Glenn Carroll, and Ron Hyland, as well as her many extended family members and friends.

Carron dedicated 30 years of her career to serving others as a Red Cross Homemaker, providing compassionate care and support to countless individuals and families throughout her community. Her kindness, patience, and willingness to help others were reflected not only in her work but in the way she lived her life every day, guided by her deep faith and devoted involvement in her Presbyterian church.

Carron had a gentle spirit and found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved cats, enjoyed reading, and could often be found happily working on the puzzles in her favorite magazines. Over the past year, she was especially cherished by the staff and residents of Broadview Nursing Home, where she was loved by all who knew her.

Carron's kindness, quiet strength, and loving heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals who cared for Carron with compassion during her final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Smiths Falls Civitan Club.

In memory of Carron, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Smiths Falls or the Canadian Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.

Though she has left this world, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Smiths Falls.
