Obituary of Ken Henderson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Henderson at the age of 93.

Ken was the last of three children born in Toronto to the late Angus and Alice Henderson (née Sudlow). In 1955, Ken married Thelma “Sal” Henderson (née Bunker) and together they created over 70 years of memories. He worked as a Vehicle Inspection Officer for the Ministry of Transport at the weigh scales in Glen Tay. Ken was known for his fairness, compassion, and support of not only his family, but the community as well. He was both proud and thrilled when the 1979 Midget ball team, that he coached, was inducted into the Perth and District Sports Hall of Fame in May 2019. During his retirement, Ken became an accomplished woodworker as he honed in on his skillset as a proficient carver leaving a legacy of intricately detailed works of art. Ken was always quick with a joke or to help out a neighbour; traits he will be remembered for years to come.

Ken will be greatly missed by his wife, Sal; children Linda (Denis), Douglas (Lisa), along with his late son Tim’s wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Danielle (Jeff), Nolan (Kelly), Travis (Nicole), Alisa, Megan (Levi), Blake, and Jackson; two beautiful great-granddaughters, Nora and Quinn, who held a special place in his heart; as well as numerous extended family members. We know that he is enjoying a much-anticipated reunion with his son Tim, parents and brothers, Bob and Dave.

The family want to thank the numerous doctors, nurses and workers who gave the best care and attention to Ken during his hospital stay and provided support for his family.

In memory of Ken, memorial contributions in his honour to a charity of your choice or to support local sports teams in your community would be appreciated by his family.
