Obituary of Rev Samuel Warnock Draffin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Samuel Draffin, a beloved husband, minister, friend, and cherished member of the community, who passed away peacefully in Perth Hospital on August 9^th, 2026, at the age of 92.

Sam was born in Castleblayney Ireland. He settled in Lanark County where he dedicated his life to ministry and to serving others. Throughout his 65+ years in ministry, he touched the lives of countless people with his warmth, compassion, humour, and genuine interest in those around him. He believed deeply in the importance of community and connection, and his greatest gift was his ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and heard.

Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sigrid Draffin, and his son Stephen (Brenda) Draffin. He is survived by his siblings in Ireland, brothers William (Immelda) and Victor (Helen), and sister Margaret (Gordon) Tutty. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Ursula Latreille and many nieces and nephews in Ireland. He is predeceased by his first wife, Irene; sons John and David, his brother Hugh (Bertha) and his sister Mary Henry.

Sam leaves behind a remarkable legacy of faith, friendship, service, and love. The countless lives he touched through his ministry and his friendships are a testament to the difference one person can make simply by caring deeply for others. His presence will be missed, his stories will be remembered, and the warmth he brought to so many lives will not be forgotten.

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Monday, August 17^th, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M.. A service to honour his life will be held in the Lanark Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 18^th, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. followed by interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Family Centre of Blair & Son, Perth.  Memorial donations to the Lanark Baptist Church are appreciated.
