Obituary of Arnold Lloyd Foster

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Arnold Foster on August 9, 2026, at the age of 77.

Arnold was the long-time partner of Shirley McGill, and together they shared many years of love, laughter, and memories. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Foster (née Timmins), his brother John, his sister Sheila, and his parents, Lloyd and Marjory Foster.

He was a loving father to Colin Foster (Ashley) and Julie Kavanagh (Matt), and a proud grandfather to Lily and Emma Kavanagh, and Madison Foster. He will also be deeply missed by his brother Earl Foster (Bonnie) and sisters Elva Fair (George) and Rhonda Allan (Bruce). He was a dear brother-in-law to Joe and Kathi Timmins. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Arnold was one-of-a-kind. He was funny, quick-witted, a gifted storyteller, and never seemed to let a good opportunity for a laugh pass him by. He had a story for just about everything—and if you had heard the story before, chances were good you were going to hear it again.

Arnold had a lifelong love of music and was an incredible fiddle player. He also loved hunting, the outdoors, and, perhaps most of all, the simple pleasure of sitting around with good people and telling stories. He had a way of making people laugh, and he never missed an opportunity to chat with a stranger, where they usually found something or someone in common. 

He will be remembered not only for his talents and his sense of humour, but for the personality that made him impossible to forget.

The family would like to sincerely thank the Kemptville Paramedics, the Kemptville Hospital Emergency Room staff, and the Queensway-Carleton Hospital ICU for their care, compassion, and for giving our family the precious opportunity to say goodbye.

Arnold leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, music, and memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Friday, August 14^th, 2026 from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. A service to honour his life will be held in the Blair & Son Chapel on Saturday, August 15^th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a reception in the Family Centre.
