Obituary of Marie Elisabeth Lynne Newman

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Elisabeth Lynne Newman, on August 14, 2026, in Perth, Ontario, at the age of 86. Lynne was born on February 20, 1940, in northern Quebec.

Lynne will be lovingly remembered by her sister Suzanne, her brother Emile, her sister-in-law Anne Marie, her sons Ron (Lisa), Stephen, David (Kelly), and Roger (Harlan), and her daughter Kim. She will be deeply missed by her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She leaves behind a special lifelong friendship with Ann McCrae (Michael) of Toronto.

Lynne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo Geroux of Carleton Place; her daughter Julie of Stittsville; and her grandson Justin of Carleton Place. She was also predeceased by her parents, Romeo and Bernadette; her brother Jacques; her brother-in-law Doug and sister-in-law Raymonde.

Lynne touched countless lives throughout her 86 years. She dedicated 35 years to teaching elementary school, sharing her love of learning with generations of children. She was also a talented pianist, a gifted seamstress, a leader in her church, and, according to those fortunate enough to taste them, the best pie-maker in the world. Above all, Lynne was a compassionate and caring person who was always willing to lend an ear to anyone who needed one.

Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering ability to make others feel heard and cared for will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Then again on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 9:30am to 10:30am. Mass will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 38 Wilson St. E., Perth on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the Blair & Son Family Reception Centre. In Honour of Lynne, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
