Obituary of Sharon Katherine Barnard
Sharon Barnard (Anderson) passed away peacefully at Lanark Lifestyles on September 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of over 64 years, Graham, and by their children, Leanne and Paul. Sharon was a proud and loving grandmother to Chris (Cheyenne), Kachina (Will), Makoto (Katie), and Stevie. She will be dearly missed by her siblings, Reenee Cordick, Jack (Margo) Anderson, Elaine Anderson, Jan (Roy) McFadden, Sandi (Brian) Montgomery, Lynne (Steve) Wight, and Lisa (Tom) Vickers; and her sisters-in-law, Sharon Stead and Barb Gottdank (Larry Petticrew). Sharon was predeceased by her parents, John and Eileen Anderson; her brothers, Jerry, Doug, Bruce, and Allan Anderson; and her brothers-in-law, Merle Barnard and Johnny Cordick. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Sharon lived a full and beautiful life, cherishing above all else her husband Graham, her family, and her Stanleyville roots. She loved to travel, experience new places, and form connections with the people she met along the way. Throughout Graham’s military career, Sharon placed great importance on creating a loving and welcoming home for their family as they began again through 12 postings across Canada and in Germany. She embraced military family life and formed lifelong friendships that she carried close to her heart throughout the years.
Growing up as one of twelve children in Stanleyville gave Sharon an especially deep appreciation for family. The connections she shared with her brothers and sisters were among the most treasured relationships of her life, made even richer by the love she also shared with Graham’s family. Sharon passed her love and devotion to family on to her two children and four grandchildren. Her presence, values, and love will continue to live on through all those whose lives she touched.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the team at Lanark Lifestyles for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to Sharon.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bridget’s Church on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 11AM, followed by interment at St. Bridget’s Cemetery.
