Obituary of Gerald James Cardinal

Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, Gerald James Cardinal passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 81.

Gerald James Cardinal, lovingly known as Jerry, was born in Perth, Ontario, on December 26, 1944. Jerry was a familiar and much-loved presence in the lives of his family and friends, and over the years he gave them countless stories, laughs, and memories to hold onto.

Jerry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn Cardinal; his parents, Gerald and Audrey Cardinal; his sisters, Joan Shanks and Gail Goodbody; his sister-in-law, Marie Cardinal; and his dear friend, Eileen Burke.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his siblings Judy Laurin (Terry), Billy Cardinal (Bev), Ronnie Cardinal, and Beverly Cardinal.

Much-loved Uncle Jerry to Chris (Alyson), Kori, Kelly (Jim), Julie, Terry-John, Tara (Jody), Tyler (Joanna), and Melissa, and a cherished great-uncle to Kieran, Jaden, Emma, Addison, Jamie, Jessica, Molly, Matt, Taylor, Brady, Quinn, and Rylan.

Gerald also shared a very special bond with his beloved cat, Mikey, who was much more than a pet, Mikey was his best friend and faithful companion.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Monday, October 5, 2026 from 10:00am until the time of his funeral service in the chapel at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow the chapel service at  Elmwood Cemetery, Perth. Those wishing to honour Jerry with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Lanark Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) or Diabetes Canada.
