Obituary of Norma Margaret MacPhail
It is with profound sadness that the family of Norma Margaret MacPhail (née Cullen), of Perth, Ontario, announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Norma was the beloved wife and lifelong companion of Malcolm “Mac” MacPhail. She was the devoted and loving mother of Kenneth MacPhail (Susanne Klausen) and Carrie (Charlie) Millar, and a proud and cherished grandmother to Kayla Millar, Brenna MacPhail (Jack Beaumont), Aundrea (Jon) Gifford, Aislin MacPhail (Chris Lynch), and Corbin (Julia) Millar. She was the treasured great-grandmother of Keaton and Blakely Gifford and the loving step-great-grandmother of Logan and Lucas Lynch.
Predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Helen Cullen, Norma was also predeceased by her siblings Cherie (late Percy) Beaupre, Bob (late Illa) Cullen, Helene Lamb, Gerry (Gert) Cullen, Terry Cullen, Brent Cullen, Audrey (late Wayne) Bissonette, and Beverly (Renny) Burchill. She is survived by her sister, Kaye Malone.
Norma will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She held a special place in her heart for Steve (Stacia) Carruthers and Andy (Cyndie) Carruthers and their families.
Norma had an extraordinary gift for nurturing houseplants. Her love of gardening and her caring touch transformed her home into an oasis of greenery and vibrant colour. Those who knew Norma will also remember her for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She possessed a remarkable ability to bring people together and was truly the heart of her family. Her home reflected the love she had for those closest to her, filled with photographs, keepsakes, and treasured mementos celebrating the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others.
Family gatherings were among Norma’s greatest joys. Holidays were especially meaningful occasions, marked by beautiful decorations, her lovingly prepared meals, and the warmth of being surrounded by loved ones. She was especially known for the care and effort she put into decorating for Halloween. Neighbourhood children came from far and wide to enjoy the festive displays and the generous treats she delighted in giving out. Through her efforts, she created traditions and memories that will be cherished by her family for generations to come.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love and countless memories she leaves behind will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to honour Norma’s memory at the home of Carrie and Charlie Millar on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call or text 613-200-3580 for additional information or directions. Forever loved, forever remembered.
