Obituary of George Bond Drysdale

On February 10, 2024, George Bond Drysdale passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Beloved husband to Beverley Jean Drysdale (née Anderson), father of Scott (Sandra), Jennifer, and Madge (John), and cherished Pa to Kelsey, Will, Doug, David, Amy and Maren. Predeceased by parents Percy and Alice and his sisters Janet (Ping) and Anne (John).

Born in Toronto, grew up in Lanark and married the love of his life in McDonalds Corners and was happily married for 64 years. George travelled all over Canada with his family in tow during his 32-year career at Simpsons Sears. He was a gem. A kind, considerate and caring man. He was funny and loved to kid around, never losing touch with his inner child. He loved music, especially big band, and the classic crooners of his day. He enjoyed playing cards, watching hockey on TV, and sitting at the beach at the head of Dalhousie Lake with a coffee watching the sun rise, but was happiest of all puttering around outdoors, fixing and cleaning up his property.  A great husband and patient devoted father and a much-loved grandfather called "Pa" by his grandkids. In his youth he was a natural athlete, playing hockey, football, and track & field in high school. Where he truly excelled was at baseball as a pitcher. A game he continued to play well into his 70's. If you met him once, or knew him for years, you likely have a fond memory of the interaction you had with him.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all those that knew him. A special thank you to the amazing nurses and staff of the Stoneridge Long Term Care Residence in Carleton Place.
