Tammy, I know nothing I say is going to take your pain away however, you and your family are in my heart, thoughts and Prayers. Tom was one of my instructors on Corp(seems like a lifetime ago) He was one of the best teachers I had, he had such kind eyes, a kind heart and a great sense of humor. Tammy, we are just getting to know each other at Pittsburgh and what I have witnessed so far, sweet lady, is you have those same qualities as Tom. You too have kind eyes, a kind heart and a great sense of humor. From what I have seen and heard you have a tremendous support system to help you through this difficult time. May God have mercy on you and your family and give you the strength to get through this difficult time. I know you have a lot of people Tammy but if there is anything I can do (big or little) do not hesitate to call 613-5474808.

My health-felt sorrow for this loss! Sarge was a great guy to work with; we spent lots of time together during his training design days! Was he still saying *thats jim-krackin dandy*? (my fault!) This is unquestionably a very painful time! As much as they say that death is *natural* no-one dealing with it would feel this is true! In fact, it begs the question *Why?!*. We had had a couple of light chats years ago; nothing earth-moving (about either my sick son or his worsening health). I always value any opportunity to share with folks what the answer to the question *Why?* is -- i busy myself a lot with this volunteer work, outside of the walls of CSC! If you would like to hear something reassuring, it is here: http://bit.ly/14C138t (having trouble posting it?) Again, my deepest condolences as such a great loss to you all!

Our condolences to Tammy and the Sargeant family on the loss of Tom. He was our Uof instructor during my core in 2009. I remember how caring, uplifting and by the book he was. He helped us all learn to shoot and made a very tense time on the firing range fun. He would sit on his chair and stop everyone on the line and sing country or something. He discussed his love of God and stories of life. He will be missed by all. Thanks Sarg for everything.

I am truly saddened to learn of your tragic & untimely loss of Tom. I will never forget meeting your wonderful family for the first time all those years ago when I first came to Sharbot Lake. All of you, Tom Snr., Wyn Tom, Robert, Kathy & Jenn. You all welcomed me in & treated me like family. As the years went on our family connected in other ways. My daughter, Sophie went to Sharbot Lake public School with Alicia & Lydia & some years after that, Jenn was her amazing school bus driver all through her Grade 7 to 12 years in Kingston. I want you all to know what a deep & lasting impression you have made on our lives & I am sure, on the lives of all those you touched.
From whatever contact I have had with your beloved Tom over the years, however brief, my impression has always been that he embodied all the very best of your family's values of kindness & dependability; lending a helping hand to others, family, friends & strangers alike. I am sure he was a mountain of strength for family & all who knew him.
I hope you will be comforted in your memories of him & in knowing that you are in our thoughts at this difficult time.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
THIS CANDLE LIT IN THE MEMORY OF TOM AS WE WILL ALL MISS HIM.

Friends
Tom was a great man and great friend who will be sadly missed by many including myself. I met Tom when he arrived at Joyceville institution twenty some years ago in the midst of a career change. Tom quickly made many new friends in his new work environment especially in Unit three where we laughed, told countless stories and drank many pots of coffee. Tom and I became good friends as we shared many likes such as hunting and fishing. We worked together, hunted together and fished together and I have a lot of great memories because I met Tom Sargeant.
Although I did not see a lot of Tom over the last few years I still considered him a great friend and someone that I still always thought about and how great it would be to get together again. I still remember fishing on Eagle Lake with Tom, Bob and Arty and having a great time even though Bob caught the biggest Laker. I also still remember Tom hunting at home for the first time and laughing hysterically at a porcupine running across the field. After Tom managed to stop laughing and cleared the tears from his eyes, I asked Tom why he was laughing so hard. Tom said that he had been hunting for many years and in all that time had never seen a porcupine run before. Tom and I always talked of retiring together and the day was only a short year away. A day I was looking forward to and having the time to hunt and fish with Tom again. I am gonna miss my dear friend and hope that he has many great hunts and fishing trips where ever he is now. You deserve it.
