Nels had already retired when I transferred down here from Kenora but when I looked after the ball team from Denmark, Nels was our bus driver. He was a great guy, lots of fun to be with. When I joined the OPP Vets Association, Nels was there. When he went in the nursing home, members continued to talk fondly about him. He will be missed by all of us.

Another sad surprise! I have known Nels for many years, had some fun times with him and always enjoyed meeting with him on his recent visits to Orilla, which became less frequent after his mothers passing. He was always so positive and able to inject lightness and humour into any conversation. We have lost a good person, may he rest in peace. Our condolences to Carol and the family.

Nels' picture in this obituary is exactly the way he was when one was around him. Nels was a Cpl at Perth Det when I was the same at Almonte Det. We spent a lot of time "solving" the problems of the world!!!!We know Carol & Nels always enjoyed the OPPVA get to-gethers wherever & no doubt are glad they were able to go for many years. Please accept our sympathies to the Brandon family.Carm & Florence Noble, Mount Forest, Ontario

My sincere condolences to the family of Nels Brandon. It was indeed my pleasure to have worked with Nels in the 1970's as a civilian employee of the OPP and later as a Police Officer in Smiths Falls. Nels had enthusiasm and an outlook which made him very popular. He will be missed.

My sympathy to you Carol and family. I worked with Nels in the late sixties and had Nels as temporary detachment commander here in Westport in the 80's. He was a great supervisor and a joy to be around. WE had lots of fun when working. I will always remember his smile. May he rest in peace.

Dear Beth and family, just found out about the passing of your dad. I first met him when I was at the park at Silver Lake in the mid 70's and had several ride alongs with him when I was with the OPP auxiliary in Perth. He was a great mentor on the job and someone who always found the best in people. His family was always at the for front of his thoughts and conversations. He was a person that once you net him you would never forget. With deepest sympathy.

Mrs. Gow and family,
Just learned today of Nelson's passing and was so sorry to hear it. I have many good memories of Nels, and over the years I've thought of him a lot. Driving the bus, he had to have had days when he wanted to throttle the lot of us. But whether he was pulled over on the side of the road, trying to stop some kid from wailing on me with her hairbrush (I believe he fired that particular item right out the window!) or sneaking me Timbits on the sly (usually as repayment for a tin of Bag Balm), he was always so incredibly kind. I'll never forget his homemade cards, his bags of Christmas candy, or those wicked hairpin turns when we were running late. Each day – and each detour – was an adventure, and those adventures were all a lot of fun. With sympathy, Amanda Graham.

Dear Carol and family
I always remember my time spent with Nelson at Inverness Ave. and Huntington Green. I was a PSW for Bayshore then and Nelson and I would go for walks and he was a true gentleman and he had a great smile and loved to whistle and talk to people on his street. He will be truly missed by the many friends he had. My thoughts are with his wonderful family at this difficult time.

They called him nipper
I remember praying for him a lot. We worked for two different services. He at the Perth OPP and me at the Perth Police. He was an officer and I a dispatcher. Way back then when Perth needed backup we would call the OPP. If Nipper was working I would pray because he would get so excited, his voice would raise and adrenalin would be pumping and he was on the case. I would start praying he would make it through without having a heart attack. He was such a good man, always brought me a tea and after retirement always spoke to me whenever I met him. I will miss him. No more flying planes now he is free to fly solo. Condolences to his family.
