learning to ride a bike

When I wanted to Learn how to ride a bike I told this to Allan. He said no problem and the two of us went to the top of the hill on Elizabeth Street in Sharbot Lake.

He showed me where to put my feet(which I knew already) and how to steer the bike once I got going. and where the brakes where. He told me to stay on the left side of the hill and turn left into the parking lot where there was lots of room at the hotel. He then held the back of the bike on the hill while I got on, got my feet on the pedals and my hands on the handle bars, told me to remember to stay on the left. When there were no cars coming so he let me go.

I was doing good but I kept picking up speed (of course being on the hill) when I got to the bottom I got scared I tried to put on the brakes but apparently there was none!!!! and for some reason turned right instead of left, at the bottom of the hill and across the road from the hotel.

There was a sand pile that we use to play in and the children from the hotel as well, well when I turned right I went into the sandpile and right over the edge of it. the bike and I skidded and went over the pile into the brush that was at the bottom. I was not hurt but shaken and when I looked up here was Allan looking over me and saying I told you to turn left. I told him you told me to use the brakes too and there is none. He helped me up and we never did that again on the hill, after that we went to the station platform to practice riding the bike and with a bike that had brakes.!!!!

Our condolences to his family and friends, My brother and I had some very good memories of Allan, Mariium and Vicki.
