I came to know John through our mutual involvement in Conservation Ontario and related activities. He was generous with his time, advice and willingness to collaborate on projects that benefit society. He will be missed by his friends; his very untimely 'passing' is a shock and an enduring loss to his family and community.

What a shock to learn of John's passing. Was chatting with him at Hobbs sale a couple of weeks ago. He always had the time to exchange a few words. I remember him from his involvement in 4H and Junior Farmers, where we first crossed paths. Like many he continued to use those skills in farming and other endeavours. Take care , our thoughts are with you and your family- Bill, Sue, David & Darla

Heartfelt condolences to Karen and family,
We remember John fondly from our RVCA island parties on the Upper Rideau. For many years he shared his wisdom and leadership in conservation - which was appreciated very much. But the best memories are of a genuinely great guy that was our friend. He will be missed.

To Karen and John’s entire extended family – so sorry for your loss. John and I were born 2 days apart (he was younger) and we were childhood friends throughout public school, brought together at the two-room Glen Tay school. We shared many adventures through those years and remained friends into high school. He was a loyal, honest caring friend and those are fond memories indeed.

It was truly a privilege to have known and enjoyed John's company during my time at the RVCA. I had the opportunity to be with John at many functions in our capacity with the authority and came to know his commitment to Conservation. His quiet gentle approach was always appreciated. Many of do not know the RVCA without him and I thank his family for sharing John with us. Gone too soon. Although I mourn his passing I celebrate the indelible mark he has left with me and conservation. My sincerest condolences to the Miller family for their loss. My personal logistics do not allow my attendance at the service which I truly regret.

Bob and I want to express our sincere condolensces to all the family on John's passing. As well, I would like to share a recent story about John. Over a week ago, John and I had a wonderful conversation at a garage sale in Perth. We must have chatted for about 20 minutes and I was reminded what a handsome, full of life man he was. His family meant a lot to him and he brought me up to date on everyone...how proud he was of you all. Karen was purchasing a beautiful glass stained window from the owner, and John carefully carried it out to the car and placed it such a way so that it would not break. What a wonderful husband. Besides his amazing smile, handsome face, he had one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. If you heard him speak in a distance, you knew it was John. Bob and I were so, so, sad to hear his life was cut short. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.</p>
