Fielding, Lois Mary; Lois Mary Fielding (Lackie) of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully Thursday, September 11, 2014. Predeceased by her parents Clara and Howard Lackie, brother Carson Lackie, and survived by her brother Cyril Lackey. Lois is the beloved mother of Stephen Fielding, Catherine (Bob) Wilkinson, Tom (Debbie) Fielding. Cherished grandmother of Jason Fielding, Braden Fielding, Stephanie Ouellette, Amanda Ouellette (Paul Gabay), Vanessa (Stephen) Hines, Andrew Ouellette -Wilkinson (Emily Maitland), Ashley Fielding and Lauren Fielding. Great grandmother of Hannah and Hailey Hines. Dear friend and companion of Delmer and Glen McCaughan. Fondly remembered by her former husband Alden Fielding and friends and family from Smiths Falls, Ontario, Calgary, Alberta, and surrounding areas. Lois - A warrior for the Lord Mary - You are blessed, a woman honored above all names Lois was born on March 23, 1934 in Govan, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to Ontario during the drought and depression, and worked her grandfather's farm in Lanark County. She treasured her father and was daddy's little girl, following him around the farm. As a young girl Lois loved the farm animals -- they were her babies. This love of animals continued throughout her life. She loved school and did well, earning her high school degree from Smiths Falls District Collegiate. Immediately after graduation she started work as a bookkeeper at Langstaff Accountants. She was brilliant with numbers and pursued this career all of her life, becoming respected and honoured in her profession. Lois met Alden Fielding at a baseball game she attended with her older brother Carson. They were married on August 25, 1955 in Montague Township and built their first home on land given to Alden by his father. Lois joined Alden in running the family garage and grocery and raised her growing family. She devoted her life to her children. As her children launched into their own lives, Lois began a new life in Calgary, Alberta. She spent 32 years with her best friend and cousin, Delmer and his son Glen. Delmer and Lois were "two peas in a pod", always hand in hand, and inseparable to the end. Lois was a hard worker and an entrepreneur, starting her own bookkeeping business, an ice cream parlor, a dog breeding business, and many other successful ventures. She was a gifted and creative seamstress, making her children and grandchildren clothes and blankets. Lois made ceramics - beautiful Christmas trees and Churches - and many other countless gifts. She had a green thumb and loved gardening, both indoors and outdoors. She was talented in the kitchen - she made the best apple pie ever! Lois was never afraid of a challenge and was always ready to learn new things. She was friendly, loved helping others, and generously gave of herself in every way. Lois loved the mountains and the farm, chuck wagon races, going for drives, gospel music, dancing, and singing. She adored her kittens and dogs and loved her family and friends. She cherished her grandchildren --- teaching and encouraging them to fulfil their dreams. She always had an open heart and would go to any length to help them. Lois was a righteous woman of God - she lived her life to know Him and love Him. She was a prayer warrior, diligently interceding to see prayers answered for her family and friends. Lois shared her life to make a little more sunshine in ours! Lois touched countless lives and was loved by many. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Family & friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls from 1 - 4 pm Sunday, September 21, 2014. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11 am in the Blair & Son Chapel. Interment, Hillcrest Cemetery. In remembrance donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
