It is a loss for me and my kids that we also share with you. I first heard Gary play with his band at Mal's campground, some 38 years ago. It was easy to see that he loved music, loved being on stage entertaining people, and loved talking to people when he was off stage. I knew him as the big brother that everyone looked up to. His zest for life was awesome. His will to fight for his life was amazing. I truly wish I could be there with you to share the loss. Although I can't, please know that I am thinking of you all. When we were starving, he fed us venison stew and when we were down, he made us pie. Of course, when it was time for a party he picked up whatever instrument was nearest and played us some tunes. We all felt very fortunate to call him our friend.

Throughout the month of October the memory of Gary's passing crossed my mind so often, it just seems like yesterday I had went and visited him at the hospital. Better yet him singing his last song that I'll never hear him sing again - it was so unimaginable that he was in his last days then for he sang so like himself, free of any health issues at all - just amazing! Your family and all of us who had the great opportunity to know Gary have lost a Great person, a survivor in many senses of the word really. Again as I always say it is a shame too loose folk who really are a true blessing to us all. Nice to see so many pictures shown of him on this tribute to Gary - wow nicely done!
