We are deeply saddened by the loss of Uncle Louie. He was a dedicated man for his love of hockey however at this sad time I reflect back on special times we spent together as family with our fun and exciting camping trips. Our trips down east were the best. We had wonderful times and experiences that were full of laughter and joy. Our Christmas visits were always ones to remember. Stories we can share with each other. It was always a treat to listen to him and dad when we were together telling stories about the two of them in their younger years. These memories are something we will forever hold in our hearts and talk about in years to come. Our thoughts and prayers and love are with all of you. Rest in peace Uncle Louie.

Patty, Chris, Greg and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to Marg, Larry, Brian, Timmy and the entire family at this difficult time. A loyal husband, dedicated father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, Louie's passion for ensuring every child had an equal opportunity to learn and play the game of hockey, to their full potential, will be sadly missed in our Community. His positive influence on our two sons, through his role as their minor hockey coach, lives on to this day. As a dedicated Town employee with the Smiths Falls Community Services Department, Louie took pride in his work, was always there when you needed him the most ( at any hour of the day ) and never hesitated to provide his candid, opinionated advice, in the interest of improving and enhancing facilities and programs for citizens of Smiths Falls and our surrounding municipal recreation partners. We will all miss this truly genuine individual. God Bless.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Both of my sons had the priviledge of having Louie as their minor hockey coach, as did so many others. He not only taught them to play the game but to have fun doing it. Nothing was as important to Louie as making sure the kids had fun....there were no ' stars' on his team because he made them all feel that they were ALL stars. I will miss our conversations at the rink and seeing him walk through those doors as he so often did. Thank you Louie for all of your devotion to our Smiths Falls Minor Hockey kids and to our town.

A Louis memory

As a young boy my first hockey coach in Smiths Falls was Louis Hart. To this day I can still remember Louis’ first pep talk to us in the dressing room before our first game (and every game after that). Louis would say stay out of that (gal-darn penal-itiot) box! Years later when I was coaching I would often tell my players to stay out of the penalty box and I would think of Louis.

Later on in life I would see Marg and Louis at the Bears games and I would stop by to say hello. Marg would always smile and ask how my family was and Louis would start talking hockey. At some point Louis would mention my Dad and how he loved hockey just like he did. During the game when the Bears would take a penalty I would smile to myself because I knew what Louis was thinking. Thanks for being our coach (including Gerry, Bobby, Ken, David, Donny). Rest in peace, Louis.

Hockey
I was privileged to have Louie as my coach when I played Bantam. We had a really successful year winning numerous tournaments. We were a rough group of lads. Louie often gave us the advice to stay out of the penalty box! I have many fond memories from that year and can easily say it was the most fun I had playing hockey. Louie let us be boys. One time on a freezing cold morning at some barn we were playing at Louie came in the room and told us we were not dressed properly for the cold. He then proceeded to take off four layers of clothing. Cracked the whole room up. Rest in peace Louie. You touched many! Don
