I have so many great memories of Uncle Ken when we were kids visiting the cottage at Dalhousie Lake. He always had time for a story or some sort of prank when you sat on his lap. When you got in that big recliner with Ken he was such a gentle giant with his huge working man hands; it never hurt that you also had access to Evelyn’s cookies and pies and what seemed like an endless supply of flavoured soda. My Father always spoke so highly of Uncle Ken, as a woodsman, a hunter and especially as a friend…he accomplished many great things through years of hard work. Into my adulthood and for the last 20 years my travels have taken me through Perth a few times each year and I tried to stop and say hello whenever possible, always welcomed with a coffee, pie and a few jokes from Uncle Ken. There was nothing better than hearing how he would solve the Maple Leafs, Senators or Blue Jays troubles given the chance. (And he probably would have) Then these past few years, even with some health issues you would still get teased by Uncle Ken, he never lost his great sense of humour. I feel so blessed that my Wife was able to meet him and that I got to see both of my boys get in that big recliner and get teased by my Uncle Ken, still a gentle giant; the boys also seemed okay with having access to Evelyn’s cookies and pies. Rest in peace Uncle.
