Darlene, when the Lord took Don home, He left a void in the lives of all that were lucky enough to have known him. His ready smile, boisterous laugh, and happy-go-lucky attitude will be greatly missed by everyone of us. God grant you the strength needed to see you thu this sad time until you meet again at heaven's door.

Occasionally, you meet someone that really has a positive influence and impact on your life. It is a person who you speak with every so often-- and it never feels like you need to catch up. For me that was Don.
An amazing sense of " laissez faire " ---to allow one to experience obstacles and challenges and figure out solutions on their own.... For me that was Don.
An incredible gift of being able to listen to others and not judge......
For me that was Don.
An individual who put others before himself, trusting that the favour would be returned but never asking for it....For me that was Don
Always had time for a hello, a drink, or whatever you wanted----but most importantly, he'd lend you his ear ....and not once would he judge... For me that was Don
Opened his home and belongings to anyone in need - you always had the benefit of the doubt no matter what your story was-- Don would find a way to trust.... For me that was Don
Want to talk equipment, trucks, tractors- anytime anywhere.....For me that was Don.
I could go on and on.
Occasionally you meet someone that has a profound impact on you---and you don't realize until he or she becomes ill.
That one person, that when you reflect on things from time to time, you hope you will be able to handle challenging situations as they would have.....or you wish you could be as positive, or non judgemental.
Lets face it - we all want to be the best we can be.
We all have that someone who has characteristics that we find inspirational. That someone whom has endearing qualities we admire.
That someone we all looked up to for our own unique reasons.....
For me that was Don

We will remember all the good times shared at MacDonald College and afterwards in our visits between Calgary and Ottawa. How did those sheep get into Laird Hall? Who was it who set up a car to tour the Oval while a turntable and microphone on the top of it blared out "In the Good Old Summertime"?...in the dead of winter and the middle of the night? Where did all those pumpkins come from? Darlene might know the answers! Thanks for all the laughs, Don.

A great neighbour
5 years ago I moved next door to Don and Darlene. It wasn't long before a friendship was built. At the time I was alone and it was nice to know I had someone next door to always look out for me. It all started out when I had a snapping turtle in my yard and I was too scared to move it myself! Don ever so nicely in his classic brown overalls came over and played hero. He was always up for a good conversation, a drink and a laugh. He became Mickey's (our cat) new best friend, as Don would spend countless hours playing and grooming him as if Mickey were his own. Don was such a teddy bear and Willow Land will surely miss him.

Always a gentleman

There are too many stories about Mr.Don to narrow it to just one. Don, Tom Hamulecki, and myself had a great business relationship and shared endless good times, good meals, and great laughs. He was one of the easiest going people I have ever met. We traveled together for over 400 days all told and I don't believe I ever remember him being in a bad mood. He was a delight to be around and I can't imagine anyone not enjoying Don's company.

I am just one of many people that will miss you, mon ami. Thanks for the memories.
