When I attended Asbury Church as a teenager with my parents each summer I used to always see Miss Whiting and recognized her love for Our Lord. Then when I met my husband Ken he of course knew Miss Whiting and had many fine stories to relate about her and her friendliness.
I had the opportunity to know Elby several years ago. She was a kind, loving, godly woman. She had a heart for the youth of the community and prayed for many of them by name. Her greatest desire was to see those who crossed her path come to saving knowledge of Christ. May her life and witness to an example for us all .
Elby, your strength and compassion was a shining beam for your cousins Jean Marc, Diane and Stephen. Our Mom, Frances Purdy will have greeted you with open arms. Elby, thank you for helping our Mom.
