Dear Jean, Donna, Patti, Curtis, Lori and Melanie (and assorted spouses, partners and off-spring)
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Don. While his death is terribly sad, he did not have to spend a long period of time separated from his family. He was lucky in a sense, that he, and you as his loved ones, did not have to witness what can be, in essense, a death that keeps on living.
At this time, when you are all together, you will no doubt reflect back on those wonderful, carefree times while on McLean Blvd and North Street with Donna fussing with her hair, which was great, I might add; Patti being the envy of all her friends because of her extensive Barbie Doll wardrobe; Curtis ironing the perfect crease in his jeans; Lori requesting her favourite dinner of wiener stew; and Melanie, if I was around, screaming about some indignity as I had probably just wound her up about something.
I think that Don must have been a closet Yoga practitioner as he was always so calm in the of midst of the chaotic whirling dervish that encompassed a day in the life of the Armstrong Clan.
Jean, you probably should have consulted me more about calming additives that were available during that era.
Wishing you fond memories to replace the sadness of Don's passing.
Cathy and Larry

Aunt Jean, I've been thinking all weekend about Uncle Don and when I was a kid. I have a lot of fond memories with Don at the Mill Pond listening to his various stories about the cottages he was working on that summer with Cecil, not to mention the hundreds of other stories that he used to tell while smoking his pipe:) I also have ingrained in my head a picture of Don sitting in the TV room every Christmas when we visited and watching curling while the holiday feast was being prepared in the kitchen.
Take care and our thoughts are with you and your family

Dear Jean and family
My sincere sympathy for you and your family. Although we have lost touch over the years, I remember how kind you were to Merdy and I when we first moved to Carleton Place and the fun we had with the children at your cottage.
Sincerely
Margaret Owens (formerly Armstrong)
