Yvonne - Words cannot begin to adequately express our sad thoughts to learn of Bert's passing - I will surely miss his phone calls/chats each time you visited Fredericton - Bert was a true friend to all - time will never erase the memories I will forever treasure of our years working together in "J" Division. We wanted you to know our thoughts are and will continue to be with you at this sad and difficult time - Bert truly was a great guy! - Love you both, Shirley.

Yvonne, my heartfelt condolences to you. I lost my own beautiful wife two weeks ago, so I entirely know what you are going through. We were stationed together in Ottawa, where we shared many laughs as well as many games of darts. We ate our lunches together and became fast friends. We also shared music interests as we both played instruments. As of late, we stayed in touch via E-Mail and phone calls. A very deer friend indeed. Gods speed Bert - Cleaver

Please accept our most sincere condolences on Bert's loss.. Bert was a great musician, a great musical comrade and a great band organizer. His presence will be missed greatly by the Swingbridge band and many others who appreciated his musicianship and comradeship. He was a good and positive person who enjoyed performing with like-minded musicians in practices at the Legion and performing live in front of an audience.

Yvonne, my thoughts are with you. I've enjoyed hearing from Bert for so many years, will miss his e-mails very much, and also miss the feeling that there's always been somebody with whom I could share a good joke! And I'll miss the feeling of you there in the background, looking after him so well, as you always have - probably bringing him a cuppa as he sat at his computer! All my memories of you both bring me a smile.

Grace and I were very saddened to learn of Bert's passing. Just seems like a few weeks ago when we visited him mid-May in the hospital. As usual we had a great visit and shared stories and laughs. It must be close to 40 years since we first met in Sask and then many visits in the Ottawa area. The first time was feeding ducks in your front yard in Manotick when they waddled up from the river. We will try to get in touch with you when we get to Winchester, probably nearer Christmas.
