Sincere sympathy to all of Gladys' family. Gladys has been a dear friend of mine since 1969.Gladys and Willard drove the AM Kdg children to Glen Tay School. Gladys would come to our Mother's Day Teas. Not that long ago she was reminiscing about these times.Gladys had the most amazing flower garden, especially zinnias, no matter where she lived. At times the deer were a challenge; like the row of tulips just ready to open their heads.Gladys was famous for her rum balls, her love of her family and her friends, visiting and chatting on the phone. She loved attending our Unit 5 meetings, even driving up from Brockville. Even though Gladys was getting on in her years she looked and acted much younger. Her death came as a shock. The wonderful memories that we cherish will keep Gladys living in our hearts.

Gladys and Willard were our neighbours on the Rideau for many, many years. Gladys was a perpetual optimist. Always a smile; never a complaint (unless Willard was doing something to irritate her, but even then she would end with a laugh) and never short of words. She grew the most amazing flowers. Zinnias became my favourite because Gladys grew them like a hedge; a wall of fabulous, vibrant colors with blossoms the size of saucers. She gave me zinnia seeds every year but mine were never as big and stunning as hers. I think that Willard must have created a botanical steroid concoction that Gladys applied to her flowers or maybe it was as simple as liquefied pike. Her beloved cats Romeo and Juliet were never far from her and I think they adored her as much as she adored them. She loved to talk about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom she was so proud and you did her proud with your obvious devotion to her. May her lasting memory be a blessing to all those she knew.
With my sincere condolences, Cathy Hansen
