Rebecca was an incredible lady and we had the pleasure of working with her for 3 years, during which time she went from agent to dear friend. Her final 'ticketed box' as she would say -was finally finding us our forever home...which she will have a special place in forever. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with Grant and her family. She was a treasure and we will miss her so very much.

My heart is broken at the loss of my beautiful big sister Rebecca. She was a fighter and had Grant a great fighter by her side all the way. She will be leaving a huge hole in the lives on many. A more special, Kind, thoughtful, giving person you would have to travel a long way to find. My thoughts now turn to the family and I send huge hugs to Rachel and David and their growing little families, and of course Grant, who made her so very happy and loved her like no other person could.

Aunty Rebecca, I can't believe you have gone and I don't think the feeling of dispair or dismay will ever pass. You were a fighter till the end but now you are at peace.
You will never be forgotten and your loss will leave a massive hole in our lives.
My condolences go to Grant, with you by her side she had a loving, caring husband and best friend.
My thoughts also go out to David and Rachel at this time,
Forever thinking of you Aunty,

My deepest sympathy to all Rebecca's family. Rebecca was one of the first people my parents met when they moved to Canada and they became great friends ever since. Whenever I would come visit Rebecca always made us so welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble. Michael and I have such lovely memories of boat trips with Rebecca and Grant. Rebecca was such a lovely person and so much fun I feel like there was always a wee bit of mischief in her eyes. She will be sorely missed. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. With love from Scotland, Liane, Michael and Orla Tait xxxx

Dear Aunty Rebecca,
It is incredibly heartbreaking and tragic that cancer has taken another life, even more so that its my own aunt. The memories (especially during my childhood) are ones that I will never forget.
You were someone very kind, very caring and always there for those close to you. Your presence will be missed to the deepest extent and I am devastated that you have gone.
Like other condolences, I share my thoughts with Grant who looked after her every day being a caring husband as well as Rachel and David who have lost a wonderful and caring mother.
RIP

Grant,
We were deeply saddened by your loss. While we had not met Rebecca, I always followed her listings and open houses in the EMC as if we were acquainted (How shocked I was to see her photograph not in the bannerhead before seeing the tribute by her colleagues). Plus I was always getting updates on you guys from Ross W. or from Kathy. The two of you will be in our prayers. God bless. Rick and Nancy.

I only knew Rebecca briefly over the course of a recent real estate transaction but my experience working with her was absolutely great. She was a consummate professional in the weeks leading to her passing, making sure that her client's successfully purchased their dream home even in the midst of her deteriorating health. She was a class act. My deepest condolences to her family.

Rebecca's Legacy
Before meeting Rebecca, there had been only two women in my life who had influenced me and shaped the course of my life: my Nana and my Grand-maman. My Grand-maman taught me the value of hard work and an appreciation for the past, and my Nana showed me the joy of generosity and the richness of true friendships. Although I was in my mid-fourties when I met Rebecca, she became the person who showed me something new - the value of living life to the fullest and being excited for each new day - that life only got better as one got older. As with most wonders in life, Rebecca's friendship came in the most unexpected way: my husband, Chris, and I were house hunting and, while viewing a home, in came Rebecca, arms overloaded with files and a rather harried look on her face, but full of cheer, optimism and so pleased to share her knowledge and resources. She remained in gentle contact with us over the following months, and it was her genuine personality and earnest interest and caring that won us over as clients. Over the year we worked with Rebecca to sell our house and seek out our dream home, she supported us and encouraged us with her unfailing optimism and unshakable confidence that everything happens for a reason as we endured the highs and lows of the house-hunting process. And one day, when our house was sold and we desperately searched for our Forever Home - a cottage-home in the dead of winter - we took a break from house touring to have lunch with her...and that's when Grant joined us...and on that day, we crossed that line from clients to friendship. We celebrated with her at her home when she welcomed her dear friends to Canada...and had ordered a cake for the event from Toronto thinking she was speaking with a bakery in the Perth area...And we attended theatre, dinners, shopping and musical events...and for every visit or outing, Rebecca dressed with a flair and classiness that was a style uniquely hers - bright red boots, flowery blouses, hats with flair, and jewlery that made a statement of youthful and joyous dash and exuberance! But my fondest memory of Rebecca's zest for life was when we jumped into their small but sporty bowrider, and we all cruised around the Big Rideau, headed for lunch at a great restaurant in Rideau Ferry. It was a beautiful and carefree sunny summer day, and Rebecca and I sat out in front while Grant captained, to our great delight with Chris beside him! The men talked man stuff, and Rebecca and I talked of whatever interested us. On that day, Rebecca's spirit fairly soared as she would lift her face skyward and let the wind from the speeding boat fly against her. We felt like glamorous young ladies out with our handsome men, cruising the waterways, and Rebecca's outgoing spirit led the way as surely as if she were a grand seafaring ship's nautical figurehead! .....Rebecca's fight began shortly after that outing, but she rose to the occasion with dash and determination that she could be fixed. And we believed in her and knew if anyone could do it, she would! When the days were hard, Grant loved her and we encouraged her. When the days were good, Rebecca was up for an event enjoying herself, and catching us all up in her delight of the occasion. Even when she began to tire, she would join in and just rest as she needed. And when she could barely eat, she would still honour the invitation...and us, with her presence, strength, and grace. During the most challenging time of her life, she taught me, more than before, that every moment of every day is a gift...a gift to be seized, savoured, and appreciated the most you possibly can. And it is this that allows me to make peace with the fates that have taken Rebecca from us well before we were willing to let her go...that even so, Rebecca grabbed every bit of joy, honour, thrill, laughter, happiness, hurrah, and wisdom and kindness, and reflected it back to all who knew her. Driving home that evening after grieving with Grant and her family and closest friends, I looked past my tears at the countryside along the road back to our Forever Home and thought that Rebecca is as the Christmas lights that shine against the darkness of the landscape - bright, beckoning, and a testament that there is hope and joy and salvation even in our darkest hour, if we just live life every day to our utmost.
