I played bridge with Nora at the RTO bridge club. She really seemed to keep doing things when she was not well.
My condolence to the family at this stressful time.

I will miss Nora's lively conversations when we played bridge on Mondays with other retired teachers. Nora often spoke of her love for her family and her roots in the Ottawa valley.

Sheyla O'Flynn and I taught with Nora at Immaculate Conception in Toronto many years ago. We want you to accept our sympathy for the death of your sister Nora. Sheyla who was born in Ireland and remembers saying to Nora asking her if she was Irish and she said no she was Canadian. She did not hear the Irish lilt that many people had from the Ottawa valley.

Pizza, parties and crisp new $5 bills
I remember Auntie Nora always being generous with the little kids in the family. She was one of an epic sea of teachers that would coo over the cuties and shower them with lovely gifts and treats.
My cousin Lisa was having one of her Garvin reunion parties one lovely summer day. The pool was shimmering and the laughter was loud. At that party, when my young daughters first met Nora, she gave them each a crisp new $5 bill. They were surprised and delighted.
I remember eating exotic rectangular pizza out of a box with Nora in her home in Toronto. I had never seen pizza in such an unusual shape. Nora was kind enough to open her home to me one hot humid summer. This allowed Carol, Ken, Christina and Patrick to get to the lake (they had been putting up with me for weeks at that point). The Toronto wing of my family could always be counted on to give me shelter during my Toronto studies. Thank you Auntie Dorothy and Auntie Carol :)
Hopefully, Auntie Nora is in a peaceful place.
With love,
Kathy
