Having just learned the sad news of Joe's passing we extend our belated but heartfelt condolences to Tui, Alex and all of Joe's family. Joe was a loyal and true friend whose kindness and generosity we shall always remember. As a colleague in External Affairs his professionalism, thoroughness and discretion could always be counted on. Our close friendship transcended those days we served together in Wellington, extending to the many happy times we shared with you and Joe beside Christie Lake after retirement. Although time and distance kept us apart in recent years, we shall not forget him and shall miss him dearly.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Joe and I wish to extend my most sincere condolences to Tui and to his family.
When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven who watches over us.
May you take comfort in knowing that Joe is now your special angel who is watching over its whole family and you Tui.
I have been on a temporary duty to Havana, Cuba thanks to Joe and Tui, replacing him during a Christmas vacation to New Zealand.

Our sincere condolences to Tui and her family on Joe's passing. We have fond memories of Joe and Tui during our posting in Cairo. As a junior officer on my first posting, I benefited from Joe's knowledge and experience, and I especially enjoyed his wry sense of humour. Running into Tui's brother a year or so ago recalled those times just after my own retirement from Foreign Affairs.

Dear Tuii
I was saddened to read of Joe's passing.
I will always remember how enjoyable it was to spend time with you and Joe. Always times of laughter, wit and good humour.
I considered Joe a dear friend.
Should you pass through the West Coast do come and spend time with Marlene and I
In Victoria.
I wonder if Joe is now trying to reclaim his suit from his Uncle Whip?

Dear Tui and family
We are saddened to hear of Joe's passing and hold such fond memories sitting on your back deck for many coccktail hours with lots of laughter. Joe always had a welcoming smile for Tiarra and I as we approached whether we got there by swimming across the lake, by boat or by foot!
Christie Lake will never be the same but now David has his buddy by his side again.
Thinking of you,
Barb and Tiarra
