Vel's passing brings back many fond memories of the great times we spent with Bev and Vel! They taught us the game of 31. In those days the Smiths Falls Bears were our team so the 6 of us (Sam and Jenny Lou, Bev and Vel and the 2 of us)attended practically every game regardless of the town hosting the game... many of the games were in Pembroke. After the game we'd play cards til 3 a.m. Vel always made sure Gary had a cup of very strong coffee before he got on the road for home. After we retired we were always reminded that school had started when Vel and her friend Janet stopped by for a visit after they had attended the "To H. with the Bell" function. Rest in Peace, Vel.

I would like to express my sympathy at the passing of your Aunt Velva. Velva and I grew up together in Harlem and have stayed friends all these years. I called her on her birthday December 9th and we had a lovely visit. It had been my intention to attend her wake or funeral but circumstances have rendered that impossible.I am sorry for your loss.

Please accept our sympathy at Velva's passing. She was a treasured childhood friend during her family's years in Harlem, Ontario. We were friends during our high school years as well. A very fine person, a faithful friend, and a fine role model for her students. She will be missed, but remembered with great fondness.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Velva. As a new teacher at Spooner School I would look down the hall in awe at the calm and caring presence of Mrs. King. Velva always enjoyed a chat and loved to laugh.
Rest In Peace Velva knowing you made a difference to many

Bob and I send our sincere sympathy to Velva's family.
We were neighbours many years ago and always shared kind words when we met at one of the local restaurants.
She, also, taught our daughter, Sarah, at D.J. Schouler school. That's where Sarah learned the hocky-pocky.
Fond memories.
Our prayers are with you all.
