McRae, Alexander H. Passed away peacefully at Rosebridge Manor on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, Alexander Hubert McRae at the age of 89. Loving husband and best friend of Marie (Grace). Devoted father of James (Doris Preece), G. 'Ronnie' (Michele), Robert (Bonnie), Catherine (Bruce) Scott, Karen (Ed) Nagle, Nancy (Stephen) Popek, Malcolm (Donna), and Cynthia (Jeff) Barr, and the late Sharon Marshall and Margaret Elizabeth McRae. Alex will be fondly remembered by his 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also predeceased by his brothers William Dowdall, Jim Welsh, Hilliard, Sanford, and Elwood Dowdall and his late sisters, Hazel Moran, and Maggie Olmstead. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Lenora Dowdall, his many nieces, nephews, and his extended family and close friends. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Friday, October 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service in the Chapel at 2 o'clock. A Masonic Service will take place on Friday at 8 p.m. and follow with a Legion Service Branch 244 - Perth at 8:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. In remembrance, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
