Dan will be missed by all the men and women that he worked with at the Kingston Detachment RCMP. His leadership to the regular members, Auxiliary Program, COP and guards was, in our opinion outstanding! |He was always available when we needed assistance whether or not it was in a work related matter or for personal issues.
Dan will be remembered also for his unique sense of humor and his ready wit. His laughter was infectious and he enjoyed life to the fullest.
To Janet, the love of his life and Vince, his son whom he was so proud of, we offer our heartfelt sympathy during this time of sadness. You will be in our thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead.
To all of Dan's family, we send our sincere sympathy and want you all to know that he will be missed.
Dan your shift is over and you have gone 10-7. Rest in peace our dear friend.

To Janet & the Family,
I was shocked and saddened at the news of Dan's passing. I remember well how happy he looked on your wedding day, and how much fun he had, and I hope that those loving memories will help sustain you in the times ahead. Keeping you in my thoughts.

My condolences to Danny's family and friends: when I talk of Danny I always tell the story of the night He and several friends, myself included, rented ice for a late night scrimmage game. The snow started early and calls went out " It's getting bad out snowing hard, how we gonna get to the rink? " I will pick everyone up in my VW beetle offered Danny. I still don't know how 4 of us with equipment got in the car but he did it . Roads were bad but not as bad as the long parkihg lot. Hold on he said as he turned in, you couldn't see out the windows as he plowed thru the snow coming to a stop with all 4 wheels off the ground halfvway up the parking lot. We all piled out played hockey till 5am come out to a snow covered beetle and with hockey sticks we dug it out. That's the Danny I will never forget.
I'm sorry I lost touch with you my very good friend, please know I will never forget you and will always tell othrs of how good a friend you were.
Love Ron Yaschuk

We were so sorry to hear of Dan's unexpected and untimely death. Dan was in Enfield when I was in Indian Brook and I always enjoyed it when he dropped in for a quick visit or to help out. We worked together in Iqaluit after that and I enjoyed working with him there as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, his family and friends

Condolences to Dan's family. As a troop mate I spent 6 months enjoying Dan's since of humour. The nature of the career and the size of our country make getting together problematic but we are forever part of the RCMP family.I was fortunate to attend Dan's retirement party and am very sorry to hear of his untimely passing.

To Dan's family
My sincere condolences on the passing of Dan at such a young age. Although I never worked with Dan during our years in the RCMP I did have occasion to meet and work with Dan after retirement at the Gahcho Kue diamond mine north of Yellowknife. After checking in to our assigned rooms at the camp Dan showed up at my door wearing a bright blue Toronto Maple Leaf bathrobe, that seemed ok until I looked at his feet and he was wearing bright red Montreal Canadian slippers.
It was an experience to have met & work with Dan.
Again my sympathy to his wife and sons.

I had the opportunity meet and get to know Dan as my Troopmate when we each joined the RCMP in 1986.
As luck would have it each went to Alberta from training and would meet occasionally. A few transfers later and he worked in the same office and on the same watch, as my wife Noreen. She always speaks kindly of Dan and how much she enjoyed working alongside him for those years. However, in that job many of us will move, often across the country and this was the case for both Dan and I. However, as is also common, our paths crossed again on occasion. As Dan and I neared the ends of our respective careers, we had occasion to meet once again, as our work caused us to cross paths one last time and it was a great opportunity to reconnect. I am sad to now know that it will be the last time.
Sincere condolences to all of Dan's family and close friends on this loss from both Noreen and myself.

Condolences from another of Dan's troop mates (in fact we shared a 'snore board' in D Block). I'll never forget Dan's classic 'penguin' marching and his mastery of the glockenspiel! Sadly, I only saw him once when I returned home to Red Deer and he came down from Ponoka, but despite the passage of time we are family.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I was a member of Troop 1 86/87 and just under 32 years ago, we graduated from Depot (October 6, 1986) and embarked on our careers as RCMP members. Learning of Dan's passing prompted me to pull out a few Depot photos. Wow, we were so much younger and in great shape. I have a photo of Dan at our halfway celebration. He is wearing a white t-shirt inscribed "hippity hop"; an indicator of his marching skills. I have such good memories of our time together in Depot. Sending my thoughts and prayers.

My most sincere condolences on Dan's passing and I hope that his entire family finds strength and support from each other and friends at this most difficult of times. I was a troopmate of Dan's during our training for the RCMP in Troop #1 in 1986. Dan was a great person to spend those six months with while we learnied to become Mounties. Although Dan was the smallest guy in our Troop in terms of stature he certainly made up for it in determination and desire. While we parted ways after training our paths crossed again when we were both posted to Nova Scotia 20 years later. Dan never lost his sense of humour and we often told stories of our time in training. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We are so sad for your great loss. Dan was special to us during his Foremost time and when we visited in NS. Our phone conversations were a combination of his humour and wit yet also showed his sensitive side. We felt a great bond and always knew he enjoyed our friendship even from a distance. We have many fond memories and will cherish them.

I worked with Dan during his time at Kingston RCMP. The laughs and memories will last me a life time. He was a dedicated officer who fought like a lion for the interests of the men and women who worked with him and in that I learned a lot about leadership from him. He knew what it meant to fight for the "little guy" even though he was short, little guy himself fighting a middle age spread. I loved him dearly.
