We were so very sorry to hear of Edna's death. She babysat our children, Drew, Daniel and Katrina McPherson and, actually, I suspect she was the wonderful daycare provider for a huge percentage of Perth children. I went back to work halftime at PDCI when my children were 4, 3 and 1 and it was such a relief to me to know that they were happy and well-cared-for at "Auntie's" house. What a truly remarkable woman, who will be missed by many, many people. Brenda Ethier & Drew McPherson

We have talked often over the past few days about our loving memories of dear Auntie Edna. She
loved her many nieces and nephews and we knew she felt it was important to let us know that. Her joy of life was so evident with each gleeful greeting we received whenever we had a chance to enjoy a visit with our family in Eastern Canada or here in Edmonton. To the Coutts family - I remember many a Monday night spent with Edna bowling. I shall never forget her encouragement when all I got was gutter balls. I can still hear her laugh and she loved a good joke. She was a wonderful lady and when I hear the thunder roll I'll believe that's dear Edna hitting a strike with Isabell and girls.

Sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear Mother. Edna was a well loved lady in our community. She will always be remembered for the wonderful role model she was to the legion of children she looked after.
On a nice sunny day it was a pleasure to walk past her home and have a little chat with her.
She was also a vital force with her husband in the Lions club. These are precious memories that your family can cherish.

We were very saddened to hear of Edna’s passing ... we loved her very much ... always cheerful with a beautiful smile and chuckle. My condolences to Auntie’s family. She was a one of a kind babysitter. I can still taste her yummy tomato soup and rice crispy squares for dessert....and the laughs we had in our ‘secret’ fort in the cedars! What a gift to have created these memories that are still fresh in my mind 30 years later.

Dear Joanne, Barbara Ann and Sue. When I remember my childhood, your mom figure prominently in those memories. Staying overnight at your place, swinging in those swings, hanging out there (and sometimes getting into trouble) as a teen and fighting over whether or not the rice krispie squares should be in the fridge or the cupboard are just a few of the things that come to my mind when I think of your mom and the fact that I was always welcome in your home. Mrs. Coutts, Auntie, Mrs. Santa and as an adult, sometimes Edna, how I will remember you and smile each time. Love to all of you

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of Edna as a Lion's kid helping out at events with our parents, many years of Girl Guides. I joined your mom as a leader at 18 and worked with her for years in many different roles. I will always remember her sitting by a fire in the morning making oatmeal or telling a story to the girls at an evening campfire. She was a very special lady.

Dear Pat and children of Edna and Gord....
I had the pleasure of spending sometime with Edna and Pat this past year, talking over the " old days”. My mom rented an apartment from them and she was going with Dad then.... they all remained friends through the years. Your parents were always great remembering the faces and names of their friends children. Edna was a lovely lady with a kind, generous and caring soul. How lucky she was to have Pat so close... sisterly bond so strong indeed.
A fun loving couple together again. My sincere condolences to you all.

My condolences to Mrs. Coutts’ family at this sad time. I remember going to " Mother and Daughter” banquets at Lioness club meetings from the time I was in high school. It was a pot luck get together. For me the highlight was dessert - in particular - Mrs Coutts’ butterscotch pie ! I always hoped to be seated at the table that went first so I could be sure to get a piece. I attended those functions for many years. In fact I took my granddaughter when she was a year old ! I was very sad to learn of Mrs. Coutts’ passing. She will be missed by all so many people.

I was so very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have many great memories of playing ladders and singing at our Girl Guide meetings. Your mom’s butterscotch pie was legendary and cost me a quarter fine at the Lionette dinner when I hid one in order to get a piece. Best quarter I ever spent! Your dad’s smile and cheery good morning and weather reports, as he made his delivery each day, helped us get to school and be dressed for whatever was to meet us when we stepped out the door. May you be consoled in knowing what a wonderful life they had and shared with so many.

My sister, Steph, and I are also one of the many priveledged to have known Edna as "Auntie". She clearly touched many and has earned a treasured place in our memories. In chatting about some of our fondest memories, my sister and I remember: Whacking our heads on frozen laundry hung on the line in the backyard during winter, cherry chip cake, french fries, disinfectant spray after diaper changes, plastic covered couches, rice krispies, dandelion chains in summer, skipping in the driveway, and watching Gilligan's Island and Hercules in the living room. Thank you for the memories, Auntie. You will be missed.

"Auntie" will be remembered and cherished by Faye and I and by our two sons who Edna had a huge part in raising. The boys early formative years were heavily influenced by her loving care and her gentle way of "educating" them. She was not just the kids baby sitter but was a valued part of our families history. A wonderful lady who will be missed by us as well and dozens of other families in Perth.
