Dear Alina, These past years have brought you, John and I closer together. Thank you for the many times we shared a meal at the Green Door; and the special times shared at your lovely home, sitting outside, visiting your beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. I remember the carefully chosen meals you prepared to suit John's diet, an essential aspect of the love you both nurtured. Thank you also, for always updating me on the activities, whereabouts, photographs and achievements of your beloved Katy (Guillermo)and John (Lissa).
I am so sorry not to be with you and your family today as you remember and celebrate John's life. Please accept my deepest condolences. Be assured of my prayers and love. Yvette

Our sincere condolences to Alina, Katy and John. We will all miss dear John, especially you, his family. John was so proud of each of you. He proudly showed me photos and talked about each of you as he worked on my computer. I am so fortunate that I was introduced to John 20 years ago. He has bought or recommended and ordered all of our computers and printers.
John was just an email or a phone call away. He loved solving problems. He was so patient with my lack of computer knowledge. I was so sorry for him when he was crawling under my computer desk. Thank you John.John will be hard to replace. I sure hope that I can contact John in Heaven.

I was so sorry to hear John finally gave up the long battle with multiple myeloma, with Alina alongside him all the way.
I got to know John when he was a regular hiker on the Rideau Trail Wednesday morning hikes I led. When John found out I did house and pet sitting, I became John and Alina's regular cat and house sitter when they went away.

Dear John,
You are larger than life and will leave such a hole in our lives though we still so feel your presence. You have been a part of our life since Expo '67...we nurtured our families and aged together. You and Lina have been so courageous and stoic these last 6 years . We always hoped you would defy your prognosis and live so much longer.
Miss you and love you,
Your BFF Peter and Sandy

Alina, John, and Katy,
I’ve known John all my life, as your family has been an integral part of mine for the past 4 decades. While my contact with all of you has been less in the more recent years, John was always available to help out, along with his sidekick Peter, to help build/design a deck, set up a computer, and answer all my tech questions. Ervis and I never needed to google such things - we had John! His courage over the past 6 years was quiet but strong and it’s so true that you would never hear him complain about the illness that he battled with such dignity. My thoughts go out to all of you and your families at this difficult time. John will be greatly missed by the Lenczewski clan but leaves behind so many great memories for all of us to cherish.

Sorry for your loss Alana. Although it was some time ago, I still look fondly on the friendship I had with John in my youth, and shared experiences I had with you at Laurentian.
Just before Christmas I was sorting out old family photos and came across a number of photos of family picnics with the McFarlanes and the Blakes. It made John’s passing very poignant.

Hey John,
We first met many years ago sitting across from each other in the tiny waiting room at K & M AutoPro on Hwy 7. We looked at each other’s reading material and it was the same edition of MAXIMUM PC. What a coincidence. But, is Perth big enough for two computer nerds? Apparently it was, as we connected and later through couples and men’s bridge and also the ladies’ hiking group. I learned so much from you about computers and technology. I also learned so much about dealing with adversity. Your sense of humour and pragmatic approach to treatments will be an inspiration to many. Alina, John, Katy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. So many good memories to cherish. Hopefully, as is said, time heals. Dear friend, I will be missing you. Rick Stojak.

I am so saddened to learn of the passing away of Mr. MacFarlane. He and Mrs. MacFarlane were both wonderful teachers of mine (thirty-plus years ago!), and he was instrumental in my pursuit of a successful Information Technology career (to the extent of even lending me one of his own computer books so that I could do extra studying on my own). I can't help but chuckle when I recall Mrs. MacFarlane mentioning that he had once given her flowers, with the accompanying card simply signed "John MacFarlane". Although I only knew him in an academic context, to me, this anecdote illustrates how he was prone to action, as opposed to flowery language, in his generosity when helping others. I also recall an example of his subtle wit when he drew a parody of that "Voice of Fire" painting, and labelled it "Voice of Chalk". My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. MacFarlane, as well as their children and extended family, at this difficult time.

I'll always remember John when he taught at the Perth Alternative School when I worked in the adjacent office. John was always such a soft spoken, kind gentleman with whom I enjoyed pleasant & informative discussions.
I fondly recall a lovely dinner my husband & I shared with John & Alina at John Gibb Carsley's cottage a few years ago.
May he rest in peace & we convey sincere condolences to John's family.

He was my math teacher for two years at PDCI after having a horrible grade 9 math teacher. He gave me courage not to give up. So sad to hear of his passing. May God give you strength to carry on.

I share your sadness at the untimely loss of your Dear John. His obituary, so well written, enhances the very positive impression John made on us when he was in our presence. I am ever grateful for the many occasions when he fixed or enhanced my computer. John lives on in us as a vivid example of one who loved to help others. May passage of time and the collective strength and support of family ease your sorrows.
