McParland, John Patrick August 8, 1918 - September 26, 2010 Veteran of WWII - R.C.A.S.C. Peacefully at Lanark Lodge with his family by his side. Loving husband of Gertrude (Merkley). Cherished father of Bev (Jim McDermott), Connie (late John Frye), Shirley, Sheila (Reg van Drecht), Sharon (Norm Stephenson), Colleen (Jim Tripp), Stephen (Maureen) and Michael (Lori). Much loved Grandpa to Thomas, Laura, Leighton, Leif, Reid, Leigh, Patrick, Wilson, Harris, Fraser, Cameron, Megan, Daniel, Amanda and Scott. Predeceased by his parents John L. and Lena. Survived by his brothers Ted (late Ella) and Eric (Eloise). Predeceased by brothers Peter (late Dorothy), Jimmy (late Della) and his sister Arlie. John will be missed by his brother-in-law Gordon Scott. Also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Blair and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 2 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, Perth on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Bridget's Cemetery, Stanleyville. In lieu of flowers donations to the Parkinsons Society and the War Amps will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
