Obituary of Essie Currie

Currie, Louise Esther (Essie) Louise Esther (Essie) Currie nee Moulton passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday September 28, 2010 at her home in Franktown in her one hundredth year. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Joe in 1980; cherished mother of Margaret (late John Rosborough), Josie (Gerry Baker) and Dan; much adored "Nanny Currie" to 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; special Aunt to Muriel (Ivan Nolan) and Kathleen Weston; and loving Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her sisters Mariah, Susan and Jane and brothers, John, George Crawford, John, Jacob and George. Dear friend of Audrey and Joe Bedford. Essie blessed this earth for almost a century; a century when the world she knew changed dramatically. At every stage of her life she left a significant mark on those she touched-a loving and committed daughter as she grew up on the family farm, a strong and independent wife and mother when Joe was overseas during WWII, and a loving woman to her family and to anyone needing a friend, a helping hand or to be "mothered". She took many people into her home over the years and impacted many lives. We will miss her but know she will finally be re-united with the "love of her life" who "filled [her] heart through and through". Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith Street N, Smiths Falls on Friday October 1, 2010 from 1 to 3pm. Service to follow at Franktown Cemetery. The family expresses their gratitude to those who have come into our lives to help care for her over the past few years with a special thank you to Cheryl. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, who Essie supported tirelessly.
