I was 6 weeks old and we were off on my first family vacation. Mom (Linda), Dad (Dan) big sister Allyson and I were off to Kenora. It took us a few days but we camped all the way there. When we arrived I was too meet Maw and Poppy for the first time. I think they loved me at first sight? We would always cut wood ahead and during the winter month’s we would cut wood on the beaver ponds. After the trees were trimmed we would clean up the brush into piles and pile the wood until it dries or move it with skidoo’s off the pond so it would be collected later. Funny how Poppy use to drop the trees on our perfect wood piles so we could start again. I guess wood piling practice makes perfect. I remember holding your skeins of yarn in my two arms so you would unroll the yarn into balls. Your socks were not only warm but wanted by all. What about the time we slid down School House hill with nothing but a garbage bag. I would bet not a lot of kids did that with their “Maw”. Oh, and the time you travelled to South Caroline to visit us. What a joy to see you but it was too bad that you only had two days to stay with us as I have so much to show and tell you about my current adventure. What about all the hours we spent playing “pea hole” and other games. This is something that I can treasure and share with my daughter. Our last good visit was in Perth hospital and it’s amazing the life lessons we learn, that can be passed down to future generations. Enjoy the journey a head of you and I will embrace the memories, Darcy Killingbeck (Grandson)
