Brennan; Joyce Peacefully in hospital Smiths Falls with her family on Tuesday August 30, 2011 Joyce M. (Parsons) Brennan, wife of the late Louis (Lou) Brennan, loved mother of Jay (Jackie) and cherished grandmother of Ian and Drew. Sister of Shirley (Paul) Conlon. Predeceased by sisters Florence (Bill) Staples, June (David) Sproule and brother Ed (Pam) Parsons. Special aunt of Dennis and Jackie Staples, Dennis Jr. (Allison) Staples, Tracy Staples (Jeff Ackerman) and many other nieces and nephews. Joyce was the first woman elected to Smiths Falls Town Council in 1977, serving for 17 years, founding member of both Heritage House Museum and Rideau Canal Museum along with service on numerous local boards. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday September 3 at 1:00 p.m. Interment: Hillcrest Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Smiths Falls Community Hospital Foundation or the Heritage House Museum would be appreciated.
