Peggy, my step-mum, was undoubtedly one of the finest ladies I've ever known. I first met "Miss Raike" just a few days after she began working for my dad, and quickly she became more than just "the voice" that answered his phone at the office. We became much closer when she typed (and re-typed) my long Master's thesis, and I realized what a treasure he had found. Not only had she devoted most of her life to Dad and to his career, -- and by extension to our family -- but she had become his trusted and understanding friend. Since Dad's death, I have continued my years-old practice of phoning home every Sunday morning, and until Peggy' fall, we rarely missed our chat -- admittedly (recently) unvariably about the same things, but also about her life-story which we worked on together. Peggy occupied a special place in my heart, and will be greatly missed.
