Obituary of James Brent Petersen
James Brent Petersen
1960 – 2019
On Saturday May 4, 2019, James (Jim) Petersen passed away at the age of 58 years at his home in Jasper, Ontario. He was the husband and best friend of Noreen Bowes Ling. Born at Plaster Rock, NB, in 1960, Jim was raised in New Denmark, NB, a son of the late Perley and Marguerite Petersen.James (Jim, Ditzy) learned the meaning of hard work at a young age in his father’s butchering and meat peddling business. Following high school and formal training as a welder, he moved to Ontario where he worked as a linesman and as a landscaper. In more recent years, he developed a landscaping and home maintenance company in the Merrickville, ON area. Truly a jack-of-all-trades, he was highly thought of and greatly appreciated by his clientele in the Merrickville region. Jim was very proud of his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the great outdoors and the rare times he could get away from work to hunt and fish with his buddies. He is survived by his wife Noreen; his children, Jamie Lee (Mark), Deborah, Jesse; his step-daughters, Christine, Danielle and Kristian; grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Xavier, Tessa, Jacob, Cherish, Ava, Kaiya, Hannah, Arrianna, Adelynn and Alayah. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Elaine (Keith), Joyce, Don (Sue), Cheryl (Larry), Deborah (Allain) and Brenda (Steve); nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, all of whom will greatly miss him. Jim’s quick wit, wry sense of humour and enduring teasing nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family, clients, and friends are deeply saddened by his loss. He requested to be remembered as he was. Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of Jim’s life will be planned at a later date. Free from pain, free from worry, I am walking right beside you.
