It was his great joy to assist the sick.He was well repected in the medical community . We were so proud of him. Greg achieved so much in his life, inso many ways.
He was the centre of the Walsh family and his beloved daughters who will have so many happy memories to comfort them at this time.

It is with great sadness to learn the passing of our dear friend Dr. Walsh.
He was a great man with a big heart supporting the Walking Group.
Each week we were expecting him for a cup of coffee, a muffin and to tell us a joke.
He would boost my moral when I was down and he would do all he could to recruit new members .
He will be missed
On behalf of the North Lanark Community Health Center Walking Group we would like to offer his beloved wife Arlene and his children our deepest sympathies .

To the family and friends of Dr Walsh,
He was a valuable member of the North lanark health clinic. I only ever had a few interactions with him there but he was so caring and compassionate despite not knowing us.
One of the times I met with him I was a very very new mom with a little guy who had a cold, Dr Walsh took the time to go over all the warning signs of the cold getting more serious, took the time to show me how to make my baby more comfortable while he was sick and he reassured us. That is not something all Dr's would do but it meant the world to us to have him understand how scary a sick new born can be.
Another time he came in when it seemed my son was taking a reaction to his 6 month shots and not only calmed me down but also held my son for about 20 minutes despite having his own patients waiting. He wouldn't leave us until everyone was 100% sure everything was ok. That meant a lot to me.
I just wanted to express what a wonderful person he was and that he helped so many. He will be missed greatly and thank you for sharing him with those of us who needed him. May he rest in peace and may you find comfort in your memories of him and the stories others share with you.

My heartfelt condolences to Greg's family. I had an appointment with Greg on what I understand was his last day at the NLCHC. It was in the afternoon and we talked at length about the rapid changes in medicine, indigenous issues, compensation for doctors and in a very humble way his choices that were clearly patients first choices, sometimes at great sacrifice. I know of private circumstances where he helped youth with severe addictions on his own time and other above and beyond the call of duty contributions to our community. He leaves big shoes to fill but as a former community leader and long time patient I wish to share my deepest gratitude for his community love and professional care. Chi miigwetch, thank you, merci, Greg.

A note to Greg's family

I was saddened to hear that Greg had died, but relieved for all of you that the painful struggle had ended. Because Greg was so bright and had such vitality, I am sure he would have suffered greatly had he lived much longer in his condition. Although I hate to lose him, I am glad he didn't have to suffer long.

From the first day to the last day that the Greg walked through the doors of the North Lanark Community Health Centre, he always had an upbeat, friendly, generous way about him. His memory will live with me for a long time to come and he will be sorely missed by me and all who knew him.

As a workmate, his jovial, theatrical, fun living way of being certainly was the highlight of the lunchroom, any parties we had and even brightened the odd staff meeting or two. Leave it to Greg to lighten the mood when necessary! I will truly miss saying "Good Morning Gregory" as was my ritual greeting for him when I would meet him in the hallway. As a doctor, Greg was extremely caring and concerned with his patients and their families and always went beyond the call of duty to assist them. He will be sorely missed by them.

I join all of you at this time of deep loss and grief. There are simply no words adequate to express my deepest sympathy at this time. I know that I cannot estimate the full extent of your pain at this moment, but for all that its worth, my feelings and thoughts are with you. I hope you get strength to deal with this loss and continue with your life. Do not hesitate if there is anything I can do to help you through this difficult time.

Sincerly,

Pam

Docs on Ice
It was with great sadness I saw today the passing of one of my hockey teammates. Greg for years was my roommate for the annual Docs on Ice tournament. He gladly accepted me into the fold of the Lanark Eh's many years ago. After many hockey games or banquets, we would lie awake at night talking about lineups, next day opponents, or hockey plays. His favourite topic was his family. As my children were older we would talk about the life of a father with teenage daughters, mostly how to cope. Laughing and lovingly Greg would realize all he could do was be there and enjoy the ride. I gather he did that very well. I will miss him at the hockey tournament this year but I am sure the docs of Lanark and past teammates will remember him fondly.
