I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I remember as a child the jokes he would tell and what mischief he might be up to. In recent years I didn't see him as much as I would have liked but when I did it was nice to catch up and he always had a smile.

Rick was a very dear brother-in-law to us. He was very warm and careing and we are sorry we did not get him and Nancy over for supper ( that was our inside joke). He was a very talented man. He took time to teach me how to play the guitar something I have wanted to do all my life. I will never forget our time together learning and teaching. We miss him already. RIP Rick and soar with the angels.

Rick was a mentor and a friend. He was a major influence on my career. We enjoyed fishing together on Black Lake where he taught me how to tie a Texas rig to land that prize bass. My condolences to Nancy, the kids and the grandkids. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Mike

Dear Rick,
You were my first VP and you set the bar. Twenty-six years later I'm still wishing to work for someone who honestly enjoys children and can balance staff camaraderie and caring discipline with leadership.
You were also a friend who shared my humour. Your rendition of "Barnacle Bill" will never be forgotten. You are also fondly remembered by a little Belarusian boy, now 33 years old with two sons of his own, who you patiently took fishing. Your little Christmas tree brightened my holidays for a number of years.
To Nancy and family, my deepest condolences.

I want you to know that Rick brought happiness into my life also. I will never forget the years we worked together. Every morning he sought me out to share his latest joke and to start the day with laughter. I shall remember him that way and never forget his kindness to others.

I was so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I worked with him when he was vice-principal, and then principal of Bridlewood Elementary School. He was very supportive when my daughter was an in-patient at CHEO. He was my boss as well as a friend when I needed one. Rick, it meant so much to me that you understood the importance of family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. I will always remember Mr. Kelly (cuz I can't bring myself to call him Rick) welcoming my dad to come over and use their pool, as long as the flag was up - or was it down? I don't remember. But I know that he and my Dad had a special friendship, and my Dad thought the world of him. And I know my Dad is there to welcome him with open arms, and probably an empty wine glass.

I am so very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. He was an important part of my teaching years at Bridlewood. He helped to foster a special sense of team spirit amongst the teachers. He knew how to be "the boss", but he also knew how to have fun with us after hours. There was lots of laughter, and there were some highjinks too. Fortunately he kept us out of trouble even if it must have felt like herding cats at times. Thank you Rick. Go now into this new life and have a great time! We'll see you later.

We are saddened to hear of Rick's passing. Some twenty plus years ago, as young teachers, Charlie and I loved seeing Rick amongst others on Friday's at The Pump or Local Heroes for a beverage. Rick sure had a flare for story telling. He'd have us all in stitches as he'd recount how he could get adolescent students to fess up to their misdemeanours.
He had a real joy of life. He loved his family and cherished his home away from the city. We are blessed to have known him.
We wish the families our sympathy and strength through this sad time. He was a great, great man.
