Well Peggy, well done you Lady! Well done. I cry as I will miss you greatly, and I laugh at the crazy plane rides as we adventured in The Lower North Shore of Quebec. I appreciate the council you gave me as an immigrant to Canada and how to figure it out. My mind keeps repeating, Goodbye Canada’s Rose ». You are Regal in every sense of the word. That laugh, that curiosity, that sense of acceptance and Grace and my oh my THAT FIGHT! Be it politics, the environment, the rights of the disadvantaged, the incredible power of your love and compassion directed it all.
Thinking of your Jeremy, And your Andrew and Kate. Oh and that dog who brought you so much joy. Goodbye Canada’s Rose, Rest in Power Peggy. Thank you for your friendship. I will always cherish it.
In the Light,
Hoda

To Jeremy and family,
I was so sorry to read of Peggy's passing this morning in the paper. She was such a special lady and I loved her spirit and her laugh. I could always count on her for a spirited discussion on any subject that came up. I will say a prayer for her passage to the next world. There are no words of condolence that can ease the pain that you are feeling but know that she was loved by all that knew her and she made a difference in this world. Take comfort in that.

Dear Jeremy, Andrew, Kate, George, Janet and Siobhan,
I know how much Peggy meant to you all, but cannot imagine how sad you must feel now that she is gone. Knowing that she had some control and choice in her passing must be of great consolation to you.
Whenever I think of Peggy I think of warm, welcoming rooms, great food and stimulating discussion. I first came to know her through George as a generous, welcoming and kind hostess who never hesitated to open her home and pantry to friends and family. And what a kitchen! She was such a great cook! Everything that came from her kitchen was so wholesome and delicious! Her table was always well laid and the discussion around it well informed! Even her Facebook presence reflected her values: Education, general culture, current events, great recipes and proper use of English grammar! Mike and I send you our sincerest condolences.
Dear George and Siobhan, you have lost a cherished sister. Imagining your sadness bring tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry for your loss. She gave you so much and I will never forget her or any of the life lessons she so generously shared.
With love,
Maeve and Mike

Jeremy, I was saddened to hear of Peggy’s passing. Have fond memories from the seventies of things like riding around in your van having lawn chairs as seats; your preparations of your Anglia for its trip to the north shore; parties which were always a blast. Really enjoyed both of you. My sincere condolences to the rest of your family as well.

The Peace of Wild Things

by Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me

and I wake in the night at the least sound

in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,

I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things

who do not tax their lives with forethought

of grief. I come into the presence of still water.

And feel above me the day-blind stars

waiting with their light. For a time

I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
