Donovan, Albert E. "Bert”
Bert passed away in Perth at the age of 85 years at the Perth Community Care Centre. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Lillian (Ward) Donovan and brothers Thomas and Charles Jr. His father Charles Donovan received his education in Detroit where he served as a detective for 15 years on the Detroit police force. Lillian and Charles moved to the Perth area and took up farming on the 1st Concession of Drummond on a farm owned by Lillian’s great-grandfather, Patrick Ward. In 1932 Charles joined the Perth Police Force as chief. At that time there was only one other member, a night constable. They had 3 sons, Albert "Bert”, Thomas and Charles Jr. Charles Jr. served in the US Army and in 1943, was accidently killed in Brisbane Australia. His body was returned to Perth for funeral services and interment in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery. Bert was the last of his immediate family, he lived a quiet life in Perth and was well known in the area. A service to honour his life will be held in the chapel of the Perth Community Care Centre, Perth on Thursday November 7th, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be with his family in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors.
