To the Gaw Family, my sincere condolences in your loss of Sam. Sam and I first met playing golf . Their was a group of men got to gether Monday mornings to play in the "Dow ." Sam was a huge inspiration to the Smiths Falls G&c.c.and to all who knew him. Prayers & Hugs to all. R.I.P Sam. Sincerely, Ron Bernicky.

I am so sorry to have heard of my life long friend passing. I have known of Sammy Gaw since 1937. My brother Ray Higgins and his wife Bea, shared a house apartment with Joyce and Sammy in 1951, in Kemptville. Sammy played hockey for the NY Rovers, the farm team for the NY Rangers in 1943. Sammy and I played baseball together in 1943 -45, We went to see the NY Yankee's play ball in 1945. Mary, my wife and I went to Cochrane Ontario, for a Base Ball Tournament with Joyce, Donna, and Sammy in 1972. Sammy and I had an opportunity to spend some Quality time together over the past six years. We often had lunch at the Spencerville Legion. Sam often came over for dinner with Charlie Thibert, Mary Dawson, and my daughter Liz and I. We laughed, and told old stories, it was so good for the soul ! My Sincere Condolences to Peter, David, and Donna. RIP My Friend !! Jack Higgins, Kemptviile

My son Justin and I had the honour of meeting Sam at the local arena watching and cheering the Kemptville 73's! Sam's warm heart and gentle manners made his company always welcome...he will be missed. May his soul rest in peace. Dave, Peter, Donna & families We were sorry to learn your Dad's live has come to an end. While we have known of Sam for many years, it has only been during the last five that we have been able to spend time with him and experience what a special person he was. We are so sorry to read of Sam's passing. He was a true gentleman. We loved hearing his many stories he always had time to share when at the SFG&CC. Working at C P Rail many yrs ago Sam always treated us underlings with respect and fun. He would give me artistic jobs to do over and above my regular uninteresting work. He was always well liked by all and we kept in touch for many years. His once in awhile phone calls will be missed as well as knowing he's not there anymore. Rest in Peace Sam. Gail Howell
