To Gerdas Family. Gerda was one of my all time favourite teachers. She was my Phys Ed teacher in grade 9 at PDCI. She’s was a wonderful and very nice lady. I had an short visit with her just last Wednesday at Carolina Retirement Suites. She will be missed by so many. My deepest condolences to all of you.

I have so many fond memories of Gerda. First as a teacher of mine at Chimo school, then at SFDCI, and then finally as a customer while I worked at Foodsmiths. She always had a smile and a friendly hello for me. She was such a wonderful lady. My heart goes out to you all.

I was so shocked in the passing of Gerta ... my condolences to the Hearty family. Had her for PE in high school and she took Al to PEP which I attended. She always looked so happy! She will be missed and she looked so young. Very sad indeed!

Others have left notes about Mrs. Hearty which says it all; not only was she an excellent teacher, she was a dedicated coach, and role model for many. I just saw Gerda two weeks ago, we hugged and planned to meet soon, for coffee and a chat. I had no idea that would be the final time I'd see Gerda, but typical Gerda, it was with a hug and a smile and I have that lovely memory to treasure.
