I knew Mike back when he worked in the fuel lab at Pratt & Whitney in the early 80's. He had a great sarcastic wit about him, he could always find something funny about everything. Thanks for the smiles Mike, a sad loss.

Deb and Betty: It was only recently that I learned about Mike. I am very sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincerest condolences at this time. Mike and I met during the period when we studied together at Richelieu Valley Regional High School. During our senior year of high school, Mike and I were classmates in two courses: French and Physics. During winter 1972, Mike and I would sometimes walk at noon hour from our high school back to my home on Rue Saint Laurent in Beloeil. My mother would make lunch for us. I also went to visit Mike at his home on Place Lansdowne in Saint Bruno. In more recent years, I contacted Mike twice in order to invite him to two high school reunions that occurred in 2014 and 2019. I have some photographs and more stories to share about the adventures that Mike and I went through during our senior year of high school. Mike and I became friends through the brewing club we both belonged to a number of years ago, and immediately hit it off. Little did I know of his cancer diagnosis, which he didn't share at the time. As couples, we chummed around a few times; he took us out in his pontoon boat for an afternoon; we shared a few meals together... It was tough for him the last year or so. Our condolences to Deb and his family, and a big thank you for the two of you extending a very warm hand of friendship. *Head bowed*

My sincere condolences to cousin Deb and apologies for wading too long through so many good memories before writing. I knew Mike Ward as a man who revelled in his retirement, finding time for more activities than most people could imagine and doing his damnedest to master them all. We shared interests in family history research, the theater, brewing, boating and sugaring off the maple trees, although I confess that in the latter three cases, Mike and Deb did most of the heavy lifting while Cynthia and I just helped reap the rewards. Mike had the "old world" gift of telling a good story (especially where "yutes" were involved) and we relished vicariously hearing of his travels with Deb. He was a kind owner to the family's rescue dogs and exceptionally accommodating to my small grandchildren, selflessly giving them boat rides during his last years on the water. Thanks, Mike.

Having known both Mike and Debs for longer than I care to remember I have many happy memories of Mike. When he served on the Help Desk in Montreal he would often get the short straw with me calling from the UK late in my evening with questions and he always found the patience to take me through the answer step by step and was prepared to repeat that process the following night if necessary.
Ray and I spent some happy days with both in the autumn of 2014, enjoying their hospitality and their boat and exploring the area. We were so taken we started looking at changing our retirement plans!
I'm so sorry that I never finished the research on the bit of Mike's tree linked to Berwick-upon-Tweed - his request has been sitting on my 'To Do' list for far too long but isn't that the way of things. I know he understood.
I am glad that we managed to catch up on the phone during the recent Christmas season.
Thank you for being a good friend Mike and Debs, you know you are welcome here whenever you are ready.
