Roger was born in Brockville, Ontario and grew up on a farm outside Merrickville, Ontario with his parents and four siblings. Throughout his life, Roger held many mechanical jobs and infused everything he touched with a strong passion and devotion to a high standard of hard work. He applied this unrelenting determination to every job he held, whether it be going above and beyond expectations by never missing a day of work, teaching himself the most efficient and effective ways of performing tasks, or simply taking pride in everything he did. As a father and grandfather, Roger was extremely loving and supportive to his children, who will forever be touched by the depths of his sensitivity and devotion to understanding and self growth. As a talented hobbyist, he applied his ingenuity to many woodworking, handicraft, and technological projects that brought him and those around him great joy. Family and friends will fondly remember his infectious laughter, smile, and fun-loving spirit.
Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls, Tuesday, August 4 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church, Smiths Falls on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Please note, due to current provincial regulations regarding indoor funeral service gatherings, the church sanctuary may accommodate a 30% capacity to a maximum of 120 attendees (including the family). We will do our best to accommodate all of those who wish to attend.
Memorial donations made in Roger’s name to the Canadian Mental Health Association, National, 500-250 Dundas Street West, Toronto, ON M5T 2Z5 or online at www.cmha.ca would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
