It is with heavy hearts we acknowledge the passing of Win Oakes. We were blessed to have her as a dear friend and family member. She came into our lives when she met Jim Griffin Sr. and she attended many of our family functions. Also, we were recipients of her many Christmas desserts, especially her mince meat pie which was always there every Christmas for her "other son", Jim Jr. We will cherish our memories of her. We send along our deepest sympathy to Shirley, Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sibling. - Jim and Muriel Griffin and Family

I shall always carry fond memories of Winnie in my heart. After she moved into Lanark Lodge I would sometimes meet her in the hall and have a chat with her. We both enjoyed these times together. She was a very gracious lady loved by many. I know Win is receiving her just reward in Heaven, for living such a beautiful life on earth. My love and condolences to her family. So sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Winnie. She has been a good friend of our family forever. We got our dog Minka from her and Harold and were always spoiled with free cookies when we stopped into the bake shop. She also made the cake for Allan and my wedding as our wedding gift. She was a dear sole. God bless. Angela (DiCola) Derbyshire.

Sad to hear about Win but happy she has moved on to a better place .... a place we hope and believe is what we envisioned.
The seldom- used word ‘Matriarch’ certainly fits Win.She meant so much to so many.
Our family has many stories and memories of the life and lives both in and surrounding the bake shop.
Win was a ‘natural’ at recognizing and responding to someone in need.
Her thoughtfulness, spark, and baked goods were evident and enjoyed at many many occasions.
Like all of us
Win had many ups and downs BUT always rose above that to tend to the needs of her family, church, and community.
Win was an exceptional person and all who knew and loved her learned many many things about love of family and service to others ....
We are certainly blessed to have witnessed all that she did and all that she was ...

Blessing and my they rest in peace.

I have such wonderful memories of Winnie and Harold and Terry and Shirley and the bakery, our family visits and how kind they all were. Winnie was a beautiful baker and was always ready to share her talents so generously on special family occasions. Winnie always had a treat of my choice for me when I would stop at the bakery, when in high school. I am sure she will be greatly missed , as she was loved and respected by so many. My sincerest condolences to Shirley, Kristine, Tom and Lisa and their families. You have lost one of the best.

When I was a youngster Win was our Cub Scout leader at St. James Church and well remembered for the job she did. When in high school lunch time was not complete without a honey dipped doughnut from the bakery. The aroma from the bakery was amazing, as was the exceptional way in which Win ran the store. I will always remember her presence behind the counter and her wonderfull personality.
My deepest sympathy to all family and friends.

Wayne and I would like to offer our most sincere condolences on Winnie's passing. Many years ago we rented an apartment from Harold and Winnie, and we could not have been better treated. They were both exceptional kind and caring people in every way and they sure looked after us like family. At any time we crossed paths again, it was like we were still part of the family, and it was always so nice to see her. We hope the family can smile and think of all the pleasant memories at this sad time, just as we will. Noreen and Wayne Sullivan
